Hey Adventure Agent families! Agent Strongman here.

PLEASE NOTE: Please prepare to bring $5 cash with you to pay for a day-use permit at the park. There are additional fees if you decide to camp or partake in other activities offered at the park. If you plan to just stay for the day and participate in the hunt, $5 cash is all you’ll need.

Now that you’re aware of the preliminary details, let's get to the good stuff… the riddle!!

-

Study the riddle closely.  Screenshot it, copy it, download it, do what you must!  Just be sure you have access to it while you’re on the hunt (there may be stretches of this journey that put you out of cell service).

I will be at the starting point this Thursday, September 2nd, 2021 from 4-7pm to meet up with Agents and join them on the hunt!

Good luck Agents!

Full East Texas Riddle:

King of the Wild Frontier,

This historical pioneer,

Has his name on the entrance sign,

Of this park, thick with pine.

Surrounding the giant lake,

Await so many memories to make,

On this ground with activities aplenty,

What to do, there’s just so many?

Hiking, fishing or camping,

The anticipation is ramping,

Now add a hunt to the mix,

This adventure, you don’t want to miss.

At Ratcliff you’ll start the journey,

You’ve got the riddle now, don’t worry,

Just carefully read these words,

To navigate the conifers.

Upon entering you’ll see,

A lot to the left is key,

The booth and map are important,

To stop and study, they warrant.

Here, begin your journey on foot,

Follow the three colors and put,

Yourself on course to the treasure,

Now look for a change and be clever.

When three colors become one,

The turns, they have just begun,

A few more ahead will follow,

As for this one, take the yellow.

Up ahead, proceed with caution,

Look both ways now, before crossin’,

Then onto the boardwalk you’ll go,

Above the grass below.

The next is easy to miss,

A detour to the right is this,

The turn that will lead you down,

Back onto the Texas ground.

Now keep your head up to see,

A new color stuck to a tree,

It’s the second one that marks the location,

Of this log used for navigation.

If you follow it to the top,

Or what used to be, before it dropped,

You’ll be almost to the chest,

Take your time here, I suggest.

There are many candidates to explore,

But only one holds in store,

The reward you’ve been after,

Under it is the closing chapter.

To the tale of the East Texas hunt,

Solving it was quite a stunt,

For you need not just walk but crawl,

To grab the treasure, beneath the root ball.
